China’s Wuhan reports zero increase in COVID-19 cases. Wuhan, the epicenter of COVID-19 outbreak in China, provides hope for the rest of the world that even the most severe situation of COVID-19 can be turned around.
It was gathered that a number of 561 patients were discharged from hospital after recovery, bringing the total number of discharged patients in the province to 58,942. Among the 5,423 hospitalized patients, 1,521 were still in severe condition and another 406 in critical condition, according to the commission.
No new domestically transmitted cases of the deadly virus(COVID-19) were reported on the Chinese mainland, the Chinese health authority said.
590 people were discharged from hospital after recovery, while the number of severe cases also decreased by 173 to 1,963.
The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 81,008, including 6,013 patients who were still being treated, 71,740 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 3,255 people who died of the disease.
“Every loss of life is a tragedy,” Tedros said, calling it “motivation” to double down and do everything people can to stop transmission of the virus and save lives.
Tedros warned younger people particularly that they are not spared amid the pandemic.
“Data from many countries clearly show that people under 50 make up a significant proportion of patients requiring hospitalization,” said Tedros. He stressed solidarity between countries as well as between age groups is the key to defeating COVID-19.
